Short 1-page readings from Thomas Merton’s works. Most are musings from his cabin on the monastery grounds.
A poetic transliteration of the psalms. Surprising insights when one is reading fresh, new words that echo these familiar text.
Psalms for Praying: An Invitation to Wholeness
A bleak, soul-draining winter is a season that seems to test everything. It is the season of remembering that requires a watchful expectation. In the plan of God, new growth breaks through the mantle of snow and ice.
Based on the rhythms and images of the Christian celtic oral tradition, these morning and evening prayers are a week’s cycle of daily worship used by the ecumenical community of Iona,
These daily prayers are based on the Celtic poem prayer form, which rejoices in the Divine and Christ found reflected in all around us – from the lush countryside to that dandelion struggling to grow in the crack of the city pavement. It’s lilting poetry praises God through his creation.
It has become my morning and evening prayer ritual of reflection, scripture reading and prayer.
